Fjord is the Bay Area's first floating sauna, moored at Schoonmaker Point in Sausalito where twin Finnish-style saunas sit atop a wave attenuator on the water itself. The saunas are built from repurposed steel shipping containers, each warmed by a large stone heater pushing temperatures toward 190°F, with two tiers of benches seating roughly six bathers per cabin. Sessions run about 90 minutes and are shared with other guests, alternating between the heat of the sauna and a bracing plunge directly into San Francisco Bay. Between rounds, the open deck frames sweeping views toward Angel Island and the city skyline, making the experience as much about the setting as the heat.
