Locust Street Athletic & Swim Club fills the old downtown West End YMCA, now part of the 21c Museum Hotel, and keeps the building's best feature: a historic four-lane indoor lap pool with original tile work. It is a gym first, so expect swimmers and lifters rather than a dedicated sauna crowd, and plan your heat around a workout or a lap swim. Day passes cover the pool, wet areas, classes and socials from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and have been around $35; memberships run from $85 a month for Swim to $119-180 for Core and $159-239 for Premier, which add guest passes and members' 24/7 access, though the steam room still only runs during staffed hours. Hotel guests get the pool and wet areas from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Parking nearby is paid.
