Lost Language

4510 N Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, IL

Lost Language is Ravenswood's neighborhood sauna, an outdoor social sauna and cold plunge yard that opened in 2025 and calls itself "a warm place for slow time." The setup is deliberately simple and Nordic: a 15-person electric sauna, a wood-fired sauna, two outdoor cold pools that each hold three or four people, and outdoor showers in between. Sessions are communal, booked in advance through the Lost Language app, and run Thursday through Sunday with early-morning and after-work slots built around the way the neighborhood actually lives. It is a sauna for people who come for the conversation as much as the heat. Co-founder Andrew also started Friday Morning Swim Club, Chicago's lakefront cold-swim meetup, and the same community-first spirit carries over: regulars, special events, memberships and gift cards, no private suites and no upsell. Reviewers consistently call out the friendly staff, the design and the sense of belonging, and the cold plunges are among the most affordable in the city. Lost Language is temporarily closed while it builds its first permanent, brick-and-mortar home at the same Ravenswood address. Check the website or @lostlanguagesauna for the reopening date and session pricing.
