Sauna Public
1952 E 2700 S, Salt Lake City, UT
Sauna Public is a public sauna on 2700 South in Salt Lake City's 84106 area, close to Sugar House. It keeps things simple. There is one hot Finnish-style sauna at 190-200°F, with three bench levels so you can choose how much heat you take, and pouring water on the rocks is encouraged. Next to it is a large cold plunge held at 45-50°F, which the owners bill as the largest in Utah. Locker rooms are shared, with private bathroom and shower stalls for changing, and there are open rinse showers outside the sauna. Walk-ins are welcome, and booking online through Mangomint lets you skip the line. There is no set time limit. The house suggests 5 to 15 minutes of heat, then 1 to 3 minutes in the plunge, repeated two or three times. A single visit (the "Sauna Sampler") costs $35, and that amount is credited if you buy a membership or punch pass afterward. Shareable punch passes cost $150 for 5 visits, $250 for 10 or $400 for 20. Monthly plans cost $150 for unlimited, $100 for weekday 6am-3pm access or 5 visits a month, $88 for students and $260 for couples. A swimsuit is required. A towel and locker are provided. Guests must be 16 or older, and under-18s need a guardian to sign the waiver. It suits people who like a properly hot sauna and a deep, cold plunge without the extras of a spa. The space also runs events, and most memberships include a monthly buddy pass, so it works for bringing a friend along.
