Steamworks Chicago is a 24-hour, members-only men's bathhouse and gym on Halsted in Northalsted (Boystown), part of a three-city group with Berkeley and Vancouver, and the only round-the-clock sauna in the city. It is an adult venue: the club is explicitly a sex-positive space for gay, bi, straight and trans men, with public play areas, private rooms and adult video throughout, and it should be approached as such. The thermal side is real, though: a wet area with a big multi-person whirlpool, a double-entrance eucalyptus steam room, two dry saunas (first and third floors) and showers, plus a full gym that takes up half of the third floor with cardio, 20 weight machines and free weights. Entry requires a Steamworks membership (bought at the door, valid at all three clubs) plus a locker or room rental; lockers have historically run around $14 and rooms $20-55 for up to eight hours, with Gym Rat packs for two-hour daytime workouts. You must be 18+ with government ID, bags are limited to five approved items, and alcohol and drugs are strictly banned. Listed for completeness as Chicago's only 24/7 sauna and steam option.
