Surge Sauna & Cold Plunge

1150 W Boot Rd Suite 5, Downingtown, PA

Surge Sauna & Cold Plunge is a small, locally owned recovery studio in a Boot Road strip of suites in Downingtown, built around one open room where everything happens together: a traditional barrel sauna, an infrared sauna, a row of cold plunge tanks, red light panels and grounding mats. The owner, Cody, opened it with a grand-opening weekend in April 2025 and calls the format social recovery; Philadelphia magazine named it to its 2026 Best of Philly list. Community sessions are the default, with members and drop-ins cycling between heat and cold side by side, and walk-ins are welcome when there is room. A single day pass runs $35 to $55 and a five-visit pass is $160; four-week plans are $95 for four visits, $120 for eight and $149 unlimited, with $10 off per cycle for a three-month commitment and 10% off unlimited for veterans, first responders and students. NormaTec compression adds $30 to a plan or runs $20 and up on its own. For privacy, a one-hour buyout of the studio is $85 for you and up to three others, and parties of eight or more (up to 25) start at $375. Hours come in morning and late-afternoon blocks on weekdays, so check the schedule before driving over. Regulars describe the space as a place to bring friends, and the studio leans into that with a coffee and tea bar and community sound baths and yoga nights.
