The Float Zone at Transitions
2034 Dabney Rd Ste A, Richmond, VA
The Float Zone is a Scott's Addition float spa, known for years for four identical sensory-deprivation pods. It now runs as part of the local Transitions Float RVA group and has added a Fire & Ice room. The room is private, pairing a dry heat sauna with a cold plunge, so you work through contrast therapy on your own or with one guest instead of in a crowd. It is the only Transitions location with a conventional dry sauna; the Short Pump and Midlothian rooms use infrared. Fire & Ice is booked as a 60-minute private session for $40, plus $10 for one guest. A $29 monthly membership (three-month commitment) includes one shareable session a month, rolling credits and a free guest, with extra sessions at $29. The staff's suggested routine is 15 minutes of heat and 2-3 minutes in the plunge, then one or two shorter rounds of 10 minutes of heat and 2-3 of cold. They will walk first-timers through breathing and how deep to sink. The room is private, so swimsuit or birthday suit is your call. The plunge has a 285 lb weight limit. Floats are still the core business: 60 minutes in 175 gallons of 94°F water with 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt, $49 for a first float and $70 after that. Float credits work at all three Transitions locations, and pairing a float with a Fire & Ice round is an easy way to build a longer recovery visit. Towels, showers, a refresh room and a quiet post-float lounge are included.
