The Recovery Room @ Vintage

1202 N Arthur Ashe Blvd, Richmond, VA

The Recovery Room is a small recovery studio inside Vintage Boxing Gym on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard in Scott's Addition, next door to Fat Dragon. It opened in June 2020 and has grown into a no-frills recovery menu: an infrared sauna in a corner of the gym, a cold plunge, a private whole-body cryotherapy room that drops to around -180°F, and Normatec compression boots and sleeves. It is built for boxers coming off the bag, but the studio says plainly that it is open to everyone, from athletes to older adults managing arthritis. This is one of the cheapest ways to sweat in Richmond. A one-hour infrared session is $20 (half off for Vintage members) and unlimited sauna is $70 a month; a cold plunge of up to three minutes is $15 ($5 for members); cryotherapy is $49.50 a session or $99 a month unlimited; and compression is $25 per 15-minute pair. Monthly unlimited plans cap at one visit a day, six days a week, and need 30 days' written notice to cancel. Appointments hold a time slot with a practitioner, so arrive 15 minutes early the first time to fill out paperwork. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8 to 6 on Friday and 8 to noon Saturday, closed Sunday; holiday hours vary, so call ahead around long weekends. Set expectations: the sauna is in the open gym, so you wear clothes and hear gloves on bags, and reviewers looking for a spa-like private sauna have been disappointed. Come for the price and the contrast menu, sauna into plunge or a quick cryo hit after training, rather than for quiet.
