The Retreat at the Vault
25 S Morton Ave, Morton, PA
The Retreat at the Vault is the recovery floor of the Vault Jiu-Jitsu gym on South Morton Avenue in Morton, Delaware County, a quiet upstairs space that opened in early 2025 and was named a Best of Philly wellness winner by Philadelphia Magazine that same year. Heat comes two ways, a wood-lined traditional sauna that reaches about 195°F and a Clearlight infrared sauna that tops out around 174°F, and the cold side is unusually serious for a gym: three plunges tiered by experience, from a 55°F beginner tub to a 40°F intermediate tub to a 34°F Morozko Forge. You do not need to train jiu-jitsu to use it. A single visit is $40 and a recovery-only membership is $149 a month (jiu-jitsu members can add it for $69), all booked ahead in the Mindbody app, and visits have no set time limit once you are in. Passes and memberships are 18+, and you sign a one-time online waiver before your first visit. Bring a swimsuit or shorts, flip-flops and water; towels are provided. The space opens around the gym's class schedule rather than fixed spa hours, so check the Mindbody timetable before you go. Between rounds there is a full-body red-light panel, a pair of 6D massage chairs and lounge seating, and the tiered plunges make it a good place to build cold tolerance step by step, from the 55°F tub down to the near-freezing one.
