The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis
999 N 2nd St, St. Louis, MO
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis is a 12,000-plus-square-foot hotel spa on the riverfront downtown, with windows that look straight out over the Mississippi and the Arch grounds. The heat is gentle and wet rather than Finnish: each of the men's and women's locker areas has a eucalyptus steam room, an infrared sauna and a whirlpool, with an aroma steam room, hydrotherapy tubs and a tranquility pool beyond, and co-ed lounges along the river glass for resting between rounds. A cold plunge shower is the only cold option; there is no plunge pool. Access comes with a booking. Reserve any massage, facial or body treatment and the steam, sauna, whirlpools and lounges are yours for the day, so arrive early and stay after; there is no published day pass for the facilities alone. Massages sit at the top of the St. Louis market, roughly $240 and up depending on length and day of the week, and you do not need to be staying at the hotel. Guests must be 16 or older. Robes, slippers, snacks, light drinks and a glass of bubbles are included, and spa guests can use the fitness center before their appointment. Treatments run from about 9 a.m., with the spa opening at 8:30 a.m.; call the spa to confirm the closing time and book. The set-piece is Spa After Dark, which hands two people the whole spa after closing, with 80-minute massages, the private steam room in the Couple's Suite and a candlelit dinner. In summer, spa guests who spend at least $100 can buy rooftop pool access for an extra fee.
