Degree Wellness Surprise is the West Valley studio of the recovery franchise, in a retail plaza on Cactus Road near the Loop 303. Four private contrast suites each hold a wood-panelled infrared sauna, a cold plunge tub, a vitamin C-infused shower and a mini-fridge of chilled water, with separate rooms for a -175°F cryotherapy chamber, red light therapy and IV drips. Robes, sandals, towels and slippers are laid out for every booking, and the studio opens at 6 a.m. on weekdays, earlier than its sister studios in Scottsdale and Gilbert. Everything is booked as a 'session': a 45-minute infrared sauna, a 3-5 minute cold plunge, a Contrast Therapy block (counted as one or two sessions), 3 minutes of -175°F cryotherapy, 15 minutes of red light, a 30-minute compression massage, a light facial or oxygen therapy. Degree does not print a single-session price; new clients pay $25 for a first session of any of the eight services and $99 for a first IV drip, and memberships cover the rest: Core at $75 a month for two sessions, Premier at $179 for eight, and Unlimited at $285 for unlimited sessions at any Degree studio nationwide, with family add-ons and up to 35% off IVs, NAD+ and nutrient shots. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are taken when a suite is free, and you can book online, by text or in the Degree app (Mindbody underneath). Bring a swimsuit; everything else, including socks and shorts for the plunge and gloves for cryo, is supplied. The four contrast suites are the draw for anyone who wants to do heat and cold alone or as a couple rather than in a communal room, and the studio pairs them with a menu of IV therapy, NAD+ and nutrient shots that is as much med-spa as bathhouse. Think of it as a private, appointment-driven recovery room rather than a social sauna.
