Float Boston

515 Medford St, Somerville, MA

Float Boston has run sensory-deprivation float tanks in Somerville's Magoun Square since 2014, and it has since added a private contrast-therapy suite that is the cheapest sauna-and-plunge session in the area. The suite is yours alone for 30 minutes and fits two people at the same price: a dual-heat cabin with infrared panels and a traditional heater that runs up to about 160°F with 660nm red light built in, a commercial-grade cold plunge tub held at 52-54°F with ozone filtration and daily water testing, and a Vitamin C-filtered shower to finish. Timers on the wall pace you through either one long round (20 minutes hot, 5 cold) or two shorter ones (10 and 2, twice). A single session is $39 (code fireandice takes $10 off your first), a 5-pack is $149, a 10-pack is $249, and monthly contrast memberships run from $59 for two sessions to $199 for unlimited, with packs and memberships including a guest at no extra charge. Floats are a separate menu ($85 single, $59 same-day or weekday Happy Hour, $299 unlimited), and a $349 'Unlimited Everything' membership covers both. Book online through the Floathelm system or text the studio; bring a swimsuit or athletic shorts and a water bottle, towels and shower products are provided. Open 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. It is a float studio first, so expect a quiet, clinical-calm front room rather than a social sauna, and a plunge on the gentler side (low 50s) that makes this a good first contrast session before working up to the 37°F tubs elsewhere.
