Jeju Sauna & Spa is the Duluth jjimjilbang that introduced a lot of Atlanta to Korean bathing culture when it opened off Gwinnett Place in 2007. The building splits the way a traditional Korean bathhouse does: men's and women's bath floors with ornate hot, warm and ice-cold soaking tubs, steam rooms and scrub tables, then a co-ed floor in matching spa uniforms where a string of themed dry saunas lined with salt, rock, jade and charcoal each run at a different heat. There is also a heated junior Olympic-size swimming pool, a cardio room, lounge and sleeping areas, and a Korean restaurant. It is walk-in only and first come, first served, with no appointments. Admission is $40 for adults 12 and up, $30 for seniors 65+ and $25 for kids 3-11, and it covers 24 hours of use from the moment your wristwatch key is activated (there is no re-entry once you leave). The watch opens your lockers and runs a tab for food, drinks and services such as body scrubs from $60 and massages from $100, settled at the front desk on the way out. Bring a physical government ID (paper copies are refused, or leave a $100 cash deposit) and your own swimsuit if you want the pool. The bath floors are nude, shoes come off at the door, and you shower before getting in any tub. The bathhouse and saunas are open 24 hours a day including holidays, which makes Jeju a late-night favourite: come after dinner, cycle hot tub, cold tub and sauna, then sleep it off in a heated room. Services and the kitchen keep shorter hours, so arrive before about 10 p.m. if you want to eat.
