Life Time Gilbert sits at the corner of Warner and Gilbert Roads and, with Tempe, is one of the two original 2003 Arizona clubs. It is a big-box family club: four pools (two indoor, two outdoor) with kids' water play, pickleball and basketball courts, a Pilates studio, a Kids Academy and a LifeSpa. For heat and cold it offers a dry sauna and a eucalyptus steam room in the common wellness area, separate steam rooms inside each locker room, a whirlpool on the pool deck and a common-area cold plunge that arrived with Life Time's plunge rollout across its clubs. A $50 day pass, sold online, is the non-member route: Life Time lists all classes, pool access, 'sauna, steam room and locker room' and the courts as included for this one location, with the fee credited to your first month's dues if you join. Adult memberships start at $179 a month, month-to-month with 30 days' notice. Members can bring a guest on a pass once every 60 days per guest. Towels, toiletries and keyless day lockers are provided. Hours run 4 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Regulars warn that the sauna and whirlpools go down for maintenance fairly often and that the club gets crowded at peak hours, so an early-morning or midday plunge-and-sauna round is the calmer bet.
