Mokara Spa is the fourth-floor spa and salon of the Omni Dallas, the 1,000-room convention hotel beside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. It is built for the treatment trade, massages, wraps, facials, manicures and a hair salon, and its thermal offering is minimal: a dry sauna in each of the men's and women's locker rooms, private showers and lockers, with no steam room, whirlpool or plunge inside the spa. The hotel's heated rooftop infinity pool and hot tub on the Uptown Terrace are a separate amenity on another floor. What makes it worth listing is the cheapest hotel sauna access downtown. The Omni sells a day rate, about $40, for the showers, dry sauna and lockers, available Monday through Thursday and withdrawn on busier Friday-to-Sunday dates when the hotel is full; guests must be 18 or older. Booking a treatment of 50 minutes or more adds same-day access to the rooftop pool and fitness center, and the Omni runs a locals' spa membership with pool, gym and treatment discounts. The pool-only day pass sold on ResortPass from around $40 does not include the spa. Hours are 10 to 6 Monday through Thursday, 10 to 8 Friday, 9 to 8 Saturday and 9 to 5 Sunday, but the spa says they flex with hotel occupancy, so call ahead. This is a sauna-and-shower stop for someone already downtown, not a destination circuit; treat it like a gym sauna with a nicer locker room, and go to the Crescent, the Thompson or the Joule when you want steam and cold.
