Mokara Spa at Omni Fort Worth Hotel

1300 Houston St, Fort Worth, TX

Mokara Spa sits on the third floor of the Omni Fort Worth, the big convention hotel on Houston Street at the south end of downtown, and it is one of the few hotel spas in the city that sells its wet areas to locals outright. The heat is an aroma dry sauna, a conventional electric sauna scented for the spa's pre-treatment 'ritual', and the warm water is the whirlpool on the hotel's rooftop pool deck; between them are walk-in jetted showers, lockers and a quiet hideaway lounge. The fourteen treatment rooms have their own steam showers, and the menu runs from 50-minute massages and facials to Texas-themed packages. The Local Retreat Day Pass is the way in without a treatment: $55, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., covering the rooftop pool and hot tub, the aroma dry sauna, the jetted showers, the lounge, a seasonal drink and complimentary valet. Book it or any treatment by appointment on 817-350-4123 or through the Omni site; hotel residency is not required. Treatments are priced from about $135 for a 50-minute Cashmere massage, and the $300 Lone Star package (massage, facial, aroma scrub) includes the dry sauna or the rooftop pool and hot tub. The spa itself is open daily, with short Monday hours and later closes on Friday and Saturday, and the rooftop pool is seasonal: closed November through February, select weekends in spring and full summer hours June through October, so a winter pass is a sauna, hot tub and lounge afternoon rather than a pool day. On ResortPass the hotel also sells a cheaper pool-only pass and massage-plus-day-pass bundles, which is the easier route if you just want the rooftop in summer.
