Revive Spa is the standalone spa building at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge, the big convention resort in north Phoenix off the Loop 101 at Tatum. It is laid out around a palm-lined, adults-only Sanctuary lap pool with a hot tub, a relaxation lounge, private men's and women's locker rooms with a sauna and a steam room on each side, a fitness center, a salon and the Revive Spa Bistro, which serves a Mediterranean-leaning breakfast and lunch with beer and wine. The thermal set is simple, a dry sauna, a steam room and the hot tub, with no cold plunge, but the pool-and-lounge setting is the draw. Unlike most Valley resort spas, Revive sells access without a treatment: a Spa Pass on ResortPass is from $125 per adult (a 20 percent service charge is added on site) and covers the Sanctuary pool, hot tub, lounge, locker rooms, fitness center and self-parking from 8:30 a.m. until close. Spa hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. A 50-minute Revive massage or facial with spa access runs from $209-$214, and treatments can also be booked direct at 480-293-3700. The spa is 18 and over, and the pass does not include AquaRidge, the resort's lazy-river pool complex, which needs its own day pass (from $40). Bring a swimsuit; robes, towels and body-care amenities are in the locker rooms. Reviews are generally warm about the pool and bistro and cooler about the locker rooms, which some guests found dated, so this is a sun-and-soak day more than a serious heat session.
