Sanctuary Spa (Sanctuary Camelback Mountain)
5700 E McDonald Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ
Sanctuary Spa is the 12,000-square-foot Asian-inspired spa of Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, the Gurney's resort on the north slope of Camelback in Paradise Valley, with twelve indoor-outdoor treatment rooms opening onto a Zen meditation garden and a reflection pond. PHOENIX magazine named it the Valley's best resort spa in 2025 and Oprah Daily put it on its 2025 destination-spa list. The wet facilities are the quiet kind: a sauna and a steam room in the locker rooms, a whirlpool where guests mingle and a shaded outdoor lap pool, with Watsu and aquatic massage in a dedicated pool. No cold plunge is published. The spa does not advertise a stand-alone pass. Non-hotel guests come in on a treatment: the resort has long welcomed day visitors with a booked service, and ResortPass currently sells a 60-minute custom massage or Sanctuary Jewel facial bundled with a resort Day Pass from about $230, which adds the heated infinity pool for the day. The $50 Day Pass on its own is the infinity pool, not the spa. Treatment prices are not printed online; the spa line is (866) 877-6447 and cancellations need 24 hours. Hours are not published on the resort site and vary by season, so call ahead; the spa complex is listed by Experience Scottsdale as opening early and closing around 8:30 p.m. The pull is the setting and the service rather than a thermal circuit, so budget a half day: a treatment, the sauna and steam, the whirlpool and a long stretch at the pool with the mountain overhead.
