Sauna For Men is a gay men's sauna and bathhouse on Kettering Drive in south Charlotte near Pineville, about 15 minutes from Uptown. The space is small and modern: a dry sauna scented with lemongrass essential oil and aromatic infusions, a wet sauna (steam room), a movie room, a private relaxation room and a few exercise bikes. It serves adult men and describes itself as a gay-friendly place to relax and meet other men, and it welcomes couples. Entry is $40 a visit, which includes two towels, a bottle of water, a locker and a stocked bathroom; students under 24 get in for $10, every fifth visit is free, and on your birthday you and a friend both get 50% off. There is no booking system, so just turn up during opening hours: noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Weekends bring a light party. It is a newer, low-key alternative to Charlotte's older men's bathhouse, with modest facilities and a social focus rather than a full spa.
