Sauna House Charlotte

1500 W Morehead St, Unit H, Charlotte, NC

Sauna House Charlotte is the Queen City outpost of the Asheville bathhouse that helped start the Carolinas' Nordic sauna habit, set in a converted industrial building on West Morehead Street at the edge of Wesley Heights. The public bathhouse is built around a two-hour Thermal Cycle: two big traditional Finnish saunas (one dark, one bright) running hot enough to pass 190°F, two in-ground cold pools held around 45-50°F, heated benches to recover on between rounds, and a silent Himalayan salt room for the quiet stretch at the end. Plants, natural light and a phone-free rest area keep the mood calm even when the rooms are busy. Visits are booked in two-hour blocks through the Sauna House app; a card holds the reservation and you are charged at checkout. A drop-in has been about $50 (some weekdays run lower), with multi-visit packs and monthly memberships for regulars, and massages can be added with bathhouse time included. The house suggests 15-20 minutes in the heat, a cold rinse, then 3-5 minutes in the plunge, and repeating. Bring a swimsuit; the bathhouse is for guests 18 and over, or 14 and up with a legal guardian. Tuesday and Wednesday open at 5 p.m., so midday seekers should aim for Monday, Thursday or the weekend. For groups, two private sauna rooms sit apart from the main floor: a four-person room and a ten-person party room, each with its own cold plunge, heated furniture and shower, which makes Sauna House a go-to for birthdays and small celebrations that want the heat without the crowd.
