Spa Avania (Grand Hyatt Scottsdale)

7500 E Doubletree Ranch Rd, Scottsdale, AZ

Spa Avania is the 21,000-square-foot spa at the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort on Gainey Ranch, refreshed when the former Hyatt Regency reopened under the Grand Hyatt flag in fall 2024 after a $115 million renovation. Its calling card is outdoors: a private French Celtic mineral pool set beside a lotus pond with poolside service, the only co-ed part of the wet circuit. Indoors, off separate men's and women's lounges, each side has an alpine dry sauna, a hot plunge and a cold plunge, a chromotherapy steam room, an inhalation room scented with essential oils, a Himalayan salt room, storm and rain showers and a relaxation room, with 19 treatment rooms behind them. Non-hotel guests get in with the Spa Pass sold through ResortPass, listed from $105 per adult (earlier snapshots showed $75, and Hyatt itself values a day pass at $125) for the full circuit, lounges, snacks, tea and infused waters and 10% off treatments; it does not include the main resort pool, which is a separate day pass. The spa is adults only, hours are 8:30 am to 6 pm and it is closed on Wednesdays, and Arizona residents can ask about resident rates with ID. Couples should know the saunas, plunges and steam are gender-separated; the mineral pool is where you meet. Reviewers rate it among the Valley's strongest resort circuits, with the dry sauna, cold plunge and the mineral pool by the lily pond drawing the most mentions; book the pass ahead on busy weekends and arrive early enough to do a full hot-cold round before the pool fills.
