SweatHouz West Ashley is the Charleston studio of the Atlanta-born private contrast-therapy chain, in a strip on Savannah Highway just west of the Ashley River bridges. Google lists it as a contrast therapy studio, and that is the whole idea: there is no shared sweat room. Every booking gets a private suite with an infrared sauna cabin you control from inside (it tops out around 175°F), a single-person cold plunge held near 48-50°F and a vitamin C-infused shower, so you can move between heat and cold as many times as you like behind your own door. Sessions are 60 minutes and booked ahead online or in the SweatHouz app. It is an easy place for a first contrast session: start the sauna lower, around 140°F, as the studio recommends, do two or three rounds and finish in the shower. A first visit is $25, a single session is $60, and monthly memberships run Reset ($149 for four sessions), Elevate ($199 for eight) and Unlimited ($249), billed monthly with 30 days' notice to cancel. Suites can be shared with a guest, so it works well for couples. Wear what you like in the sauna and swimwear for the plunge; you change in the suite. Reviewers mostly praise the friendly staff and the clean, private rooms, which make it a popular West Ashley and James Island alternative to a busy gym recovery area. It is open from 7 a.m. on weekdays, with evening hours until 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
