The Oasis is the outdoor recovery yard at Core24, a design-forward lifting gym on the corner of Toomey Avenue and Tremont in Wilmore, on the edge of South End. It centers on a sauna big enough for about 40 people, lined with Eastern red cedar benches and fitted with red light therapy panels, beside an outdoor cold plunge pool, with an outdoor workout cage next door. You do not need to be a member: a $32.99 day pass covers the gym and the Oasis, and first-time visitors who live in Charlotte can claim one free day pass online. Membership is $125.99 a month with gym and Oasis access, month-to-month, plus a $39.99 enrollment fee and a $29.99 annual fee. Everyone must be 18 or older. The gym opens at 5 a.m. on weekdays and stays open until 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, so a pre-work sauna and plunge is easy; there is a lot behind the building and overflow parking at the church next door. It suits lifters who want contrast therapy built into training, and anyone who would rather sit in a large social sauna after a workout than book a private session.
