The Refuge Spa at Renaissance Reno

1 Lake St, Floor 4, Reno, NV

The Refuge Spa takes up the fourth floor of the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel, a block off the river near the Reno Arch, and works as a small, polished city spa rather than a sprawling casino one. Heat here comes from an infrared sauna set off the Reflect Lounge, a room of reflective art and plush chairs with complimentary refreshments; outside there is a seasonal outdoor pool with seating, and private men's and women's locker rooms with showers and vanities. You are handed a robe and sandals on arrival. The sauna, pool, lounge and locker rooms are not sold on their own: booking any treatment opens them for your visit, so the cheapest way in is a 30-minute express service such as the $85 Quick Fix massage, while full 60-minute massages start around $160. It suits a solo reset or a couples afternoon more than a sauna-focused session; plan time before or after your appointment to use the infrared sauna and lounge. Monthly memberships are sold and are shared with sister spa Dolce Vita in south Reno, and Marriott Bonvoy members get 30% off select services Monday to Thursday. The spa is closed Mondays. What sets it apart is The Rise Bar, a full bar inside the spa that pours cocktails, local craft beer, mocktails and wellness elixirs, which you can carry out to the pool deck in season. The Refuge opened in early 2020 as part of the hotel's renovation and also hosts private spa parties and venue rentals.
