The Spa at Encore Boston Harbor

1 Broadway, 3rd Floor, Everett, MA

The Spa at Encore Boston Harbor is the Wynn-built resort spa on the third floor of the Everett casino hotel, a roughly 19,000-square-foot space of Venetian chandeliers, hand-painted silk walls, marble urns and glowing floor lanterns that took Boston magazine's Best of Boston day-spa award in 2022. The thermal circuit is split into separate ladies' and gentlemen's heat-and-water areas, each with a eucalyptus steam room, a dry-heat sauna, a waterfall shower and a hot plunge and cold plunge pool set in lapis-blue tile, with heated lounge chairs beside the water for resting between rounds. A relaxation lounge with infused water, detox tea and healthy snacks sits outside the wet areas, and 17 treatment rooms (including a couple's suite) handle massages, facials and body treatments. This is a treatment-first spa rather than a bathhouse. The heat-and-water facilities come included with any massage, facial or body treatment (not with salon services), and the spa asks you to arrive 45 minutes to an hour early to use them, since they are not available after your appointment. The spa's own pages also refer to guests who purchase heat-and-water facility passes without a treatment, but it publishes no price for them; call the spa to ask what is currently offered. Massages start around $295 for 90 minutes. You do not need to be a hotel guest, you must be 18 or older, a bathing suit is required in the wet areas, robes and slippers are provided, and self-parking and valet are free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday and until 7 p.m. on Saturday; reservations are recommended, though walk-ins are taken when there is space. For a sauna-and-plunge person, the draw is the contrast: a proper hot pool and cold pool a few steps apart, in a room built to make you linger. Pair it with a treatment and leave time for the harborfront walk outside.
