The Spa at Thompson Dallas occupies the ninth floor of The National, the 1960s First National Bank tower downtown that reopened as the Thompson in 2020, and its best feature is outside: a sun deck with a barrel sauna, a hot plunge pool and a cold plunge pool set against the skyline, a few steps from the hotel's rooftop pool. Indoors, the men's and women's locker rooms each have a eucalyptus steam room, an infrared sauna and showers, and there is a steam shower, a shared relaxation lounge and treatment rooms running Natura Bissé and Eminence. The terrace is co-ed and swimsuits are worn there; the indoor steam and infrared are separated by sex. For locals the entry point is the Two-Hour Spa Escape Pass on ResortPass, from about $50, which buys up to two hours with the plunge pools, barrel sauna, steam rooms, infrared saunas, lounge and locker rooms. It is adults 21 and over and does not include the rooftop pool or the gym, which are sold separately as a pool pass. Booking any treatment of 50 minutes or longer also opens the facilities, and ResortPass bundles a 50-minute massage or facial with access from around $180. Valet is at the hotel's rate with a pass. Published hours are 9 to 5 Sunday and Monday, 9 to 6 Tuesday and Wednesday, and 9 to 7 Thursday through Saturday, though the pass listing shows a slightly later 10 a.m. start on weekdays, so confirm your slot when you book. Two hours is enough: a round of barrel sauna, cold plunge, hot plunge and steam fits comfortably, and recent pass holders single out the outdoor sauna and the steam room as the highlights. Go on a clear afternoon for the view, bring a swimsuit, and know that food is not allowed in the spa.
