Thermae Retreat
112 Rose Dr, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Thermae Retreat now lives inside ThePEMS Collaborative, a garden wellness house on Rose Drive just south of downtown Fort Lauderdale, which bills itself as the new home of the Thermae experience. The heat is split between an outdoor Finnish barrel sauna and indoor and outdoor infrared saunas, with a cold plunge tub for contrast, rinse showers with a salt scrub bowl, and plenty of places to lie still in between: a windchime garden, a quiet room, a lounge and a sound shala. A day pass is $45 ($65 with the plunge), a week is $79 ($99 with plunge), and month-to-month memberships run about $159-189 depending on whether you add the plunge and towels, with couples plans and a cheaper 7-9 a.m. morning membership. Herbal tea and filtered water are included; bring a swimsuit. The house asks guests to call or text (954) 604-7930 to set an arrival time, and it is closed on Tuesdays. This is the slow, homespun end of the Fort Lauderdale sauna scene: less gym, more retreat, with massage, facials, sound baths, yoga-and-sauna sessions and community circles on the calendar, plus a teen afternoon club that pairs the saunas and plunge with homework and crafts.
